The Scoop: Partners Ben Lyon and Jaime Windon opened up Lyon Distilling right off the main drag in St. Michaels, along Maryland’s Eastern Shore, in 2013. To sum up their mission in three words, it’s as they will often remind you – “Drink more rum!” Lyon Distilling offers small batch, handmade spirits, including a range of their signature rums, as well as both rye whiskey and corn whiskey. Maryland has strong ties to rye dating back to colonial times, and Lyon’s is the first to be made in the state for more than 40 years. Free tastings & tours are available on Fridays and Saturdays [call ahead to confirm times].
